Wiki Reflection

Wiki is something that is new to me, but I can see how it will and can be very beneficial to me in the class setting. Wiki is an engaging tool that keeps both the teacher and the student in constant communication. It’s a friendly user page that will allow students to read any notes or post and share any comments from discussion questions among a class. A Wiki page will allow a student or teacher to retrieve instant feedback and rebuttal and agree on views or ideas.

A wiki allows you to capture the eye through pictures and videos on the content area. Depending upon the skills of the person creating the page, a wiki page can be so informative and technological driven that a person can teach themselves.

I do feel that having a wiki page can and will allow students and parents to become their own problem solvers. I can share assignments that are due, upcoming events, class room procedures and needed materials. We currently use facebook as a communication tool for band information and materials. The Powerschool program also allows us to set up a page for parents and students to keep them informed of classroom assignment and grades. I do plan to use this tool in the future to keep parents and students prepared for day to day band related info.
